Suzies is celebrating 50 years in 2019! Back in 1969, the first Suzies store opened in Waikiki, Hawaii by the company’s founder, Mr. Ralph Albrecht. With its success, there were seven more Suzies locations that opened throughout California and Nevada. Then in 1986 all the stores were formed under Janra Enterprise, Inc. The name Janra was selected by Mr. Ralph Albrecht as he named it after his late wife, Jan, and added his R.A. initials to create the Janra name. As a philanthropist, Mr. Ralph Albrecht established the Lanie Albrecht Foundation, named after his mother, that became the sole owner of all Janra entities; and to this day, Suzies and the Janra entities are proud that all profits generated are directed to The Lanie Albrecht Foundation.
The Lanie Albrecht Foundation finds and donates to 501(c)3 charities that work with individuals for educational development, family challenges in jobs and housing and helping individuals help themselves. The Lanie Albrecht Foundation also donates to areas that need the most help, such as the Houston Floods caused by Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and the California Paradise Camp Fires in 2018.
To name a few, the Foundation has gifted Wellspring Women’s Center, Sierra Wonder Forever Families, Family Promise, Alchemist Community Development, the Wounded Warrior Project (in Kaneohe, HI) and Food Banks in Madera, CA, Yolo, CA Counties and Reno, NV area. Most recently in 2019, donations were made to the Human Trafficking Medical Safe Haven at Mercy Family Health Center in Sacramento, CA.
As a company, we believe in promoting love, equality and diversity while always giving back to our communities. As of March 2019, the President for all Janra entities has made many changes since he has been on board. The company is soaring to amazing lengths in success and modernization.
